Part of Tri-State under winter weather advisory for Friday night, Saturday

A pair of weather systems will move into the area Friday evening and into Saturday, bringing a wintry mix of precipitation to the region.  A winter weather advisory has been issued for Hancock and Ohio Counties in Kentucky as well as Perry and Dubois Counties in Indiana from 5 p.m. Central time Friday through 11 a.m. Central time Saturday.

A mix of rain and snow is expected to develop across the region on Friday and then change over to snow Friday evening.

The National Weather Service in Paducah will be conducting ten Spotter Training Webinars in preparation for the upcoming severe weather season.

These free webinars are open to anyone and will have all the content of the NWS' basic Spotter class.  You can participate via your home computer.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOUISVILLE HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR A WINTRY MIX OF FREEZING RAIN AND RAIN...WHICH
IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM EST /MIDNIGHT CST/ TO 11 AM EST /10 AM CST/SATURDAY.  PERRY AND DUBOIS COUNTIES ARE IN THE ADVISORY AREA.

Our 50-degree days are coming to an end and a blast of winter weather is taking their place.  In fact, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the entire Tri-State including Dubois, Pike and Perry Counties as well as Hancock & Ohio counties for Thursday afternoon and lasting until 9 a.m. Friday.

Meteorologist Chad Sewich says we can expect temperatures to dip below freezing with 1-2" of blowing snow likely to fall.

Two days worth of rain has created very soggy - and in some cases dangerous, conditions.

Evansville has now recorded 67.39" of rain this year, shattering the old annual record of 66.18" from 2006.

Here are some of the 2 day rain totals from around the tri-state:

Vincennes: 1.31"

Fairfield: 1.61"

Henderson: 3.27"

Owensboro: 3.31"

Evansville: 3.40"

Earlington: 3.75"

Jasper: 3.87"

Morganfield: 3.94"

Heavy rain and yesterday's snow have area rivers on the rise. 

The stage of the White River at Petersburg stands at 17.5 feet as of early Wednesday.  It is expected to crest at 19.7 feet on Monday.

At Hazleton, the river measured 16.3 feet with a 21 foot crest expected.

Be careful if you're out there driving around. 

The sun will be out and temperatures will be in the mid-to-upper 40s for the rest of the week, according to the 14 Weather Team.
