State Road 257 to close in Pike County

The Indiana Department of Transportation is announcing that beginning Monday, August 1, State Road 257 in Pike County will close. 

S.R. 257 will be closed from the junction of State Road 356 (S.R. 356) to the junction of State Road 56 for a pipe replacement 0.70 miles north of S.R. 56.  Crews will begin work at approximately 7:00 a.m. local time and last until Tuesday, August 2, weather permitting.

No through vehicle traffic will be allowed, however local residents will have access to the point of closure.  Motorists will use S.R. 356, S.R. 57, S.R.

The Indiana Department of Transportation is announcing that beginning Monday, June 27, County Road 250 W (C.R. 250 W) in Pike County will close. 

C.R. 250 will be closed for construction of the I-69 corridor from the junction of County Road 50 S (C.R. 50 S) to the junction of County Road 125 S (C.R. 125 S).  Crews will begin work at approximately 7:00 a.m.

As construction season shifts into full gear, Gohmann Asphalt and Construction Company of Clarksville was recently named low bidder for the final segment of Section Two of the I-69 Corridor.    

This contract is for new road construction beginning at State Road 61 to County Road 650 in Pike County. 2.3 miles in length, this contract will be the last segment to go into construction in Sections 1 through 3.

County Road 250 West to close in Pike County

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is announcing that beginning Thursday, June 16, County Road 250 W (C.R. 250 W) in Pike County will close. 

C.R. 250 will be closed for construction of the I-69 corridor from the junction of County Road 50 S (C.R. 50 S) to the junction of County Road 125 S (C.R. 125 S).  Crews will begin work at approximately 7:00 a.m.

Jasper-French Lick Express now operating

 Jasper-French Lick Express now operating

From now through November, the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor "The Jasper to French Lick Express" train rides.

The trains depart from the Jasper Depot at 5:00 each Saturday - and riders will travel 25 miles northeast to the French Lick Resort Casino.

Guests will travel in air-conditioned luxury cars complete with cash bar.  Cost is $29.95.

Dinner trips to Dubois, Indiana are also available.

With the hot summer temperatures here and summer vacations coming up the Indiana State Police Jasper post is reminding motorists of the following safety tips.

On hot days, the temperature inside vehicles can climb rapidly and may exceed 100 degrees.
