Hampton Inn Jasper among chain's top performers

Hampton Hotels  has honored the Hampton Inn, Jasper, located at 355 Third Avenue, with the company’s Lighthouse Award, designating it as one of the hotel chain’s top performing hotels among more than 1,800 Hampton properties.

Hampton Inn, Jasper was recognized for its high rankings in overall accommodations, service and quality. The award criteria was based on customer feedback measured through guest satisfaction surveys on the hotel, as well as product quality and service scores measured quarterly by the Hampton Hotels brand.

"The competition to be among the elite group of Hampton Lighthouse Award winners becomes stronger each year as the Hampton brand continues to add more hotels and continually looks for ways to strengthen the guest experience. We are especially proud to receive this honor for the third time," said Mary Mehringer, general manager of Hampton Inn, Jasper.

New video touts Ferdinand

New video touts Ferdinand

In conjunction with the ideals set forth by the Ferdinand HomeTown Competitiveness (FHTC) initiative, particularly the population growth, tourism, and youth pillars, the Town of Ferdinand has produced a promotional video touting the benefits of living, working, and options for recreational activities in and around the community.  The six minute video is titled “Live. Work. Play. Ferdinand, Indiana” and can be found at www.ferdinandindiana.org.  It will temporarily be located on the Town’s homepage and will have a permanent home on the “About Ferdinand” portion of the Town’s website and on the Town’s official youtube channel (www.youtube.com/townofferdinand).

As the title suggests, the video is predominantly about small-town residential life in Ferdinand, the Town’s business climate—both large and small, and the opportunities for recreation as a resident of Ferdinand.

New LED street lights helping Huntingburg, Tell City save money

New LED street lights helping Huntingburg, Tell City save money

The streets of Tell City and Huntingburg are a bit brighter thanks to the hard work of the city utilities and with a little help from the Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA).

IMPA was awarded a $5 million grant by the US Department of Energy through the General Innovation Grant Fund Program, a part of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant, on behalf of its member communities to implement local street light retrofitting programs.  Overall, the initiative involves 11,000 new street lights in 30 communities in Indiana served by IMPA.

The results are now evident in both Tell City and Huntingburg as the utilities have completed the installation of light-emitting diode (LED) street lights in the communities.
