Vote early at Dubois Co. Satellite locations

Want to avoid to the lines on election day? Try voting at Dubois County Satellite locations.

Dubois County Clerk Bridgette Jarboe says registered residents will have an opportunity to vote early at the Huntingburg Events Center on Thursday, October 25 and Ferdinand on Friday and Saturday at the Community Center in Ferdinand.

Huntingburg, Jasper welcome new mayors

New Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz took office on Saturday. A crowd of about 200 gathered to hear each City Council member along with Clerk-Treasurer Juanita Boehm and new Mayor Terry Seitz take the oath of office and then give a speech afterward.

Boehm administered the oath of office to seven council members: · Randy Buchta – Councilman at Large · Ray Howard – Councilman at Large · Greg Schnaar – District 2 Councilman · Dave Prechtel – District 3 Councilman · Tom Schmidt – District 4 Councilman · Earl Schmitt – District 5 Councilman · Kevin Manley – District 6 Councilman.

Seitz, Spinner are winners in Dubois Co.

Seitz, Spinner are winners in Dubois Co.

Republican Terry Seitz beat challenger John Burger in the race for mayor of Jasper. He'll take over for long-time mayor Bill Schmitt who decided to step away after 20 years on the job. Seitz captured 68% of the vote.

Huntingburg will also have a new mayor. Republican Dennis Spinner beat Janet Kemp 59%-41%.

The library referendum in Jasper was soundly defeated. Voters decided 73%-27% that they weren't willing to allow an increase in their property taxes to help pay for a new library on South Newton Street at a cost of $7.3 million.
