Rising waters close 257 in Pike Co.

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces rising waters have caused the closure of roads in the Vincennes District.   The closures will remain in effect until waters recede.   INDOT is advising motorists to use caution around these areas of high water:          

In Daviess & Pike Counties, State Road 257 is closed from U.S. 50 (Washington) to State Road 356 (Otwell).

Fifth person arrested in Jasper meth lab

JASPER, IN (WFIE)-

Police make a fifth arrest in a meth lab that was discovered last week in Jasper.

Police say they arrested Dean Campbell, 49, on Monday.

Campbell is identified by police as the owner of the Division Road home where police say they found a meth lab, guns, pot and bath salts.

Jacqueline L. Elliot, James R. Monroe,
Jeremiah D. Threet, and Connie E. Monroe were all arrested at the scene.

Campbell is charged with possession meth, precursors, marijuana, salvia and maintaining a common nuisance.

Mother arrested on battery charges after 911 call for sick infant

JASPER, IN (WFIE)-

An investigation from a 911 call in Jasper for a sick infant results in the arrest of a Jasper mother. Lindsay R. Gootee, 24, was taken into custody Tuesday at the Jasper Police Department, and is charged with aggravated battery of a six-month-old.

Jasper Police say they were dispatched on October 18th, with Memorial EMS and Jasper First Responders, to a 911 report of an infant who was having medical problems at that infant's daycare provider.

A meth lab is busted in Dubois County.

Jasper police were alerted to possible drug activity around 2:30 p.m. at 1370 division road.

Officers say after an investigation, they found numerous items related to the use and manufacturing of methamphetamine. They also located two loaded firearms, marijuana, and bath salts. A working meth lab was found in a detached garage on the property.

Jacqueline L. Elliot, James R. Monroe, Jeremiah D. Threet, and Connie E. Monroe are all charged with possession of meth and numerous other charges.

Two hurt in Jasper accident

Two Jasper area women were injured in a car accident Tuesday morning around 11:20.

Jasper Police say a 2003 Pontiac Vibe driven by 65-year-old Joan M. Horney collided with a 2001 Jeep Wranger driven by 48-year-old Cynthia Klem at the corner of 9th and Newton.

Horney complained of chest pain while Klem suffered a back injury.  Both were taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment.

New jobs coming to Dubois Co

DUBOIS CO, IN (WFIE)-

Dubois County has the lowest unemployment rate in Indiana, but now more jobs are on the way.

Ten new jobs will be available through Indiana Furniture Industries in Jasper.

Ten jobs may not sound like a huge number, but when they are good paying, highly skilled positions with a company that has deep roots in the area, they're definitely welcomed.

Indiana Furniture Industries began in Dubois County more than 100 years ago, and today, it employs close to 300 people.

USI program aimed at helping local businesses break out

In partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Division of Outreach and Engagement at the University of Southern Indiana will offer a second BreakOut Program to eight area small businesses. With grant dollars from the USDA Rural Development Office, the program will provide high-level resources to businesses to help them build on their successes and “break out” to the next level.
