Motorcyclist dead after an accident in Dubois County

DUBOIS CO, IN (WFIE)- One man is dead Sunday night after an accident happened in Dubois County.

It happened just after 3:00 P.M. at the intersection of State Roads 64 and 161.

There sheriff's office says a car turned into the path of a motorcycle throwing the driver of that motorcycle onto the road.

That man was taken to the hospital where he died.

The driver of the car and a passenger were treated for minor injuries at the hospital and the names of those involved have not yet been released.

Jasper man arrested on child molesting charges

JASPER, IN (WFIE)- Authorities in Dubois County say a man has been arrested on child molesting charges.

Jasper Police say 23-year-old Jacob H. Brewer was arrested Wednesday on a charge of Child Molesting, a Class C Felony.

Police say the arrest stems from a complaint filed that alleged Brewster touched a 6-year-old girl inappropriately.

Officials say the alleged victim and her mother were living with Brewster at the time, but are not related.

iPads changing education in Dubois County

DUBOIS CO, IN (WFIE)-

Within the next three years, all students, even kindergartners, in Northeast Dubois County will have iPads. 
It's a first for the county, and school officials believe it will change the way they view education.

"I just think it's going to be a tremendous opportunity for our students," superintendent Bill Hochgesang said.

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an ATV accident involving two 13-year-old girls. The crash occurred Saturday afternoon on County Road 200 West in the area of the Huntingburg airport. The operator reportedly swerved to miss a deer that was crossing the road. In attempt to miss the deer, however they ran off of the road and made impact into a gate, ejecting both the driver and passenger.

Both girls were transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital by Dubois County E.M.S., where they were treated for minor injuries and later released. Indiana Conservation Officers were assisted at the scene by the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

Suspect in shooting causes delay in local school corporation

PETERSBURG, IN (WFIE)- Police from several different agencies worked together in Petersburg this morning to arrest a fugitive wanted for attempted murder.

21-year-old Darius Hardiman was wanted out of Anderson for shooting a man in the head.

While police looked for Hardiman, the Petersburg school system did what they could to ensure the safety of their faculty and students, which included a two-hour delay.

PETERSBURG, IN (WFIE)-

Early Friday morning Indiana State Police arrested 21-year-old Darius A. Hardiman of Anderson, in connection to a March 17th shooting.

A felony warrant for attempted murder had been issued for Hardiman's arrest.

On April 3, Anderson Police notified area law enforcement agencies that Hardiman may be in the Evansville area.

Around 10:30 Thursday night, Indiana State Police and the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force received information Hardiman was in the Petersburg area.
