New details released in the arrest of Dale pharmacy robbery suspects

DALE, IN (WFIE)- The two suspects from last Wednesday's armed robbery of the Dale Pharmacy, Jacob D. Beyers, 26, Mt. Vernon and Mallory A. Johnson, 27, Mt. Vernon, have been taken into custody in Knoxville, TN by the U.S. Marshal's Service.

A golf cart accidents leaves on teenager with a broken elbow.

It happened Monday in Jasper on North Trainer Lane.

Authorities say two friends were being driven by another on the golf cart when the driver lost control.

The two friends jumped out of the cart before it rolled over, but the driver wasn't so lucky. He says the cart hit his right arm and a later X-ray found he suffered a broken elbow.

It was cloudy and unseasonably cool but the 2013 Chalk Walk in downtown Jasper went on as scheduled Saturday.

In the tradition of 16th century European street painting, Jasper’s downtown sidewalks and pavements are transformed into colorful chalk and pastel murals during the day.

For three straight years the event has been postponed a week due to rain.

Jasper Police were busy dealing with accidents on Friday.  

A little before 3 p.m., a pickup truck and a car collided on a rain-slicked US 231 just south of 16th Street.

Police say a 1995 Chevy pickup driven by 20-year-old Ethan Kuebler wasn't able to stop in time to avoid striking the back of a Hyundai passenger car driven by a 17-year-old boy. 

Neither driver was seriously hurt.

Two vehicles collided in the rain on Newton Street in Jasper Thursday afternoon.

Police say it happened near the entrance to Redeemer Lutheran Church on US 231 when a two-door Ford driven by 34-year-old Christopher Hedrick of Loogootee ran into the back of a Dodge SUV driven by Deann Achbach of Jasper.

Officers say Achbach was slowing or stopped behind a line of cars at the stop light of US 231 and 36th Street and Hedrick didn’t see her in time.

The City of Jasper has announced its Spirit of Jasper train excursion schedule for 2013 and the addition of a fourth passenger car to the train. The schedule includes three types of trips: Jasper to French Lick Excursion, the Ride & Dine Excursion, and the Fall Foliage Excursion. The first of 28 weekend trips will begin on Saturday, June 1 and run through Saturday, November 2.

Passengers ride in restored, climate-controlled vintage railroad cars complete with restrooms and comfortable seating. Ride & Dine Excursions feature a dinner catered by the Schnitzelbank, Jasper’s authentic, locally-owned German restaurant.

The Town of Ferdinand’s iPhone smart phone app is now available for free download in the iPhone’s App Store.  The Town’s Android platform smart phone app is still in development.

The smart phone app provides efficient and easy to use “buttons” for seven main areas:  news, the Citizen’s Action Center (allowing for residents to immediately report concerns), Town events, Town Departments and municipal code information, services, social media, and photos.
