Car hits semi; two hurt

Two people were hurt Wednesday morning when a car sideswiped a semi on US 231 in Jasper.

Sheriff’s deputies say 45-year-old Wayne Mehringer of Dubois was heading southbound about 9 a.m. when he hit the northbound semi driven by Thomas Seng, also of Dubois.

The impact sent Mehringer’s car into a guardrail.  He had to be cut from the vehicle and was taken to Memorial Hospital in Jasper before being flown by helicopter to Evansville. He’s in serious condition.

Seng was taken to Memorial with back, neck and shoulder pain.
