JASPER, IN (WFIE)- The city of Jasper is gearing up for the second day of Strassenfest, the city's German heritage festival.
Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz says this is the 34th annual Strassenfest, and he says it will feature rides, games, live music, homemade food, and a beer garden.
The Mayor's Office says smaller events have been going on throughout the day Friday, but they expect thousands more to show up Friday night, and into the weekend.
"All-in-all, it's just an ideal time to be in Jasper," Mayor Seitz told 14 News. "We'll draw about 40,000 people this week, for visitors, here to downtown Jasper."
Mayor Seitz says the Strassenfest beer garden and rides open at 4:00 p.m. Central time, 5:00 p.m. Eastern.
