Jasper Police: Man was texting during crash that ko'd exercise station | News
A 29-year-old Huntingburg man escaped injury but is facing traffic charges after a one-vehicle accident in Jasper Friday night.
Jasper Police say Miguel Chavez Sandoval was heading east on 14th Street at the intersection with Robert Street when he missed a turn, hit the curb, drove down the embankment and struck an exercise station in Jaycees Park.
An officer says Sandoval told him he was texting and didn’t see the sharp 90-degree turn in the roadway. He was cited for driving while suspended and using a telecommunications device while driving.
The exercise statiion sustained approximately $250 worth of damage.
