Vacant house fire under investigation in Jasper | News
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire at a vacant house at 1308 Newton Street in Jasper early Monday morning.
A neighbor called dispatch at 4:34 a.m. and when fire crews arrived they wound the rear exterior of the house and a sofa engulfed in flames. A next door neighbor was using a garden hose to try and put the fire out.
The Jasper Fire Department was on scene for about an hour with four engines and 28 firefighters.
There is minor smoke and water damage to the interior of the home as well.
No one was hurt.
The investigation is a combined effort between Jasper Police and Fire and the Dubois County Sheriff's Department.
