Movie Night in Ferdinand August 3: Remember the Titans

On Friday, August 3, the Town of Ferdinand will again host a Community Movie Night at its 18th Street Park to close the summer recreation season. All area residents are invited to join in on a free night of food, fun, and family entertainment.

Remember the Titans, a Walt Disney Pictures film featuring Denzel Washington, will be projected on a 26-foot inflatable screen.  Washington, who won the BET Best Actor Award in 2001 for the film, plays the newly integrated school’s driven football coach.  While not always true to actual events, the film, which is based on a true story, puts an interesting and informative perspective on 1970s race relations.

The movie will begin at 9:15 p.m. (EST), but the public is invited to come early to listen to music and socialize. Everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to provide seating during the movie. The Ferdinand Kiwanis will run the concession stand for the evening. Popcorn, candy, and soft drinks will be on sale to the public.

The rain date for the movie is Saturday, August 4. The same times apply.

This evening is the final in a series of free movie events offered to area residents this summer. The event is funded by the Town of Ferdinand in an effort to provide fun and free family entertainment to area residents.
