JPD chasing vending machine crooks

The Jasper Police Department is investigating the theft of money from beverage vending machines throughout the city’s jurisdiction.  There have been similar thefts reported in other areas of Dubois and surrounding counties.

The suspects' vehicle was captured on surveillance video during a theft that occurred between Thursday night and Friday morning.

Officers have taken reports from business owners in the 2900 block of Newton Street, the 500 block of Third Avenue and the 400 block of Second Avenue.  These locations reported that unknown persons gained entry into some machines and cut off the padlocks of others but not gaining entry.

Arrests in Huntingburg burglaries

Two local teenagers have been arrested aftger a string of break-ins and burglaries in the Huntingburg area.  Police say 18-year-old Alan Friz and 18-year-old Michael Orebaugh were taken into custody and booked into the Dubois County Security Center. 

Both are being held on $10,000 cash bond and were expected to make an initial court appearance Friday.

Huntingburg Police are asking for help solving a string of burglaries from garages and vehicles, including the theft of a gun.

On Wednesday alone, five incidents were reported to police, according to our media partner, WITZ Radio.

The areas where the most recent burglaries took place are the 600 block of South Park Drive, 100 block of North Chestnut and the 100 block of East First Avenue.

Pick up truck stolen in Henderson; Evansville teen arrested in Dubois Co. with hitchhikers in tow

A vehicle that was stolen out of Henderson  was recovered on I-64 around midnight Tuesday.

Kentucky State Police say they received information that a stolen 2006 Chevrolet pick-up truck was traveling east on I-64.  The Indiana State Police Region III Dispatch Center placed a dispatch to all Southwest Indiana law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

Jasper Police hunt auto theft suspects

Jasper Police say two warrants have been issued for Dubois County residents suspected in a residential burglary and auto theft that took place June 2.

Officers say Jason C. Walters, 20, was arrested for theft and criminal mischief on Monday.  He appeared in court and was sent to the work release program at the Dubois County Corrections Center but he failed to return Tuesday before the warrants for auto theft, burglary and theft were issued.

Jasper Police nab stolen vehicle, suspect

A Jasper man was arrested on auto theft and several other charges Monday afternoon.

Police say they stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Mill Street that looked like one that was reported stolen earlier in the day.  It had been partially painted black.

After confirming it was the stolen vehicle, the driver and a young passenger were taken in for questioning.

Teen charged with vehicle break-ins

A 16-year-old boy was taken into police custody early Wednesday morning after Jasper officers say they caught him breaking into vehicles in the 1200 block of Jackson Street and the surrounding area.

WITZ Radio reports that the boy was confronted by officers, dropped several items and tried to run away.  He was located a few blocks away and was charged with unlawful entry to a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and minor possession of alcohol.

He was taken to the Knox County Juvenile Detention Center.
