Workforce board to honor businesses and clients at annual meeting | Business

The Grow Southwest Indiana Workforce Board will recognize two area businesses and five clients at its annual meeting for their accomplishments through the help of WorkOne Southwest services.
Client nominees are in Adult, Dislocated Worker, and Youth categories and demonstrated the following criteria: a client who accessed all eligible WorkOne programs and services; a client who demonstrated the willingness to persist and overcome particular difficulties; a client who entered employment in an in-demand occupation, or for the Youth nominees, a client who completed education or employment goals. The Adult awards will be presented to a resident of Knox County and a resident of Gibson County. The Dislocated Worker award will go to a Knox County resident, and Youth awards will be presented to a Pike County resident and a Posey County resident.
The “Business of the Year” award is to recognize a company in Economic Growth Region 11 that has best utilized the services of WorkOne Southwest to create and sustain a 21st century workforce. WorkOne Southwest Business Services include: Mindleaders, WorkKeys Profiling, Veteran’s Services, Rapid Response, Labor Market Information, Indiana Career Connect, Business Seminars, Dream It! Do It!, On-the-Job Training, and Community Involvement (Job/Skills Fairs). The Small Business of the Year Award will be presented to Knox County ARC, located in Vincennes.
A private, not-for-profit organization, KCARC delivers services for individuals with special needs. In addition, manufacturing functions are carried out through Dove Manufacturing Division. These processes include manufacturing of wood products, metal fabrication, paint & finishing, assembly operations, packaging, warehousing, distribution services, and document and data destruction. KCARC currently employs approximately 450 individuals. The Large Business of the Year Award will be presented to SABIC located in Posey County.
A leading global supplier of engineering thermoplastics resins, coatings, specialty compounds, film and sheet, SABIC provides these high-performance products to a diverse customer base, including automotive, electronics, transportation, building & construction and healthcare. Approximately 1,200 individuals are employed by SABIC.
The annual meeting will be held Friday, October 26, at Vincennes University Ft. Branch Campus in the auditorium. The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. CST. The public is welcome to attend. Keynote speaker will be Scott Sanders, commissioner of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
The Grow Southwest Indiana Regional Workforce Board serves as the governing board of WorkOne Southwest and Economic Growth Region 11. The counties of Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick make up Economic Growth Region 11.
