Hampton Inn Jasper among chain's top performers

 

Hampton Hotels  has honored the Hampton Inn, Jasper, located at 355 Third Avenue, with the company’s Lighthouse Award, designating it as one of the hotel chain’s top performing hotels among more than 1,800 Hampton properties.

Hampton Inn, Jasper was recognized for its high rankings in overall accommodations, service and quality. The award criteria was based on customer feedback measured through guest satisfaction surveys on the hotel, as well as product quality and service scores measured quarterly by the Hampton Hotels brand.

"The competition to be among the elite group of Hampton Lighthouse Award winners becomes stronger each year as the Hampton brand continues to add more hotels and continually looks for ways to strengthen the guest experience. We are especially proud to receive this honor for the third time," said Mary Mehringer, general manager of Hampton Inn, Jasper.

Citing a growing need for a well-trained workforce, Indiana Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann says that a new facility at the Vincennes University Jasper Campus may serve as model for the state.

Speaking Tuesday at the dedication of the $12 million Center for Technology, Innovation and Manufacturing, Ellspermann said the VU Jasper Campus facility “will set the stage here for a wonderful future for Dubois County and Southwest Indiana - and may be a role model for the rest of the state.”

The Ferdinand Chamber of Commerce has set a new record for membership in 2013.  With a current total of 150 members, the Chamber has broken its membership record for the third consecutive year.

“We have continued to support local events and initiatives while striving to add additional value for our members,” said 2013 Ferdinand Chamber President Jim Mehling.  “I feel that our success and growth is due, in large part, to the collaborative nature we have fostered with the Town, Ferdinand Tourism, and the Ferdinand Merchant’s Association.  We are all working together, good things are happening, and our community as a whole is better for it.”

Wabash Valley Produce of Dubois is helping in the fight against hunger by donating nearly 300,000 eggs to Indiana food assistance organizations, including the local Community Food Bank, during the month of March.

Families continue to struggle to put food on their tables, leading more and more to turn to food assistance organizations across the country for help. In fact, more than 48 million Americans live in food insecure homes.

“We’re thrilled to donate much-needed protein to the Community Food Bank, along with the Tri-State Food Bank, Hoosier Hills Food Bank and Terre-Haute Catholic Charities, just in time for the Easter holiday,” stated Tom Seger of Wabash Valley Produce. “We take pride in giving back to our local community.”

Kimball Electronics Group of Jasper has been awarded a new assembly contract with Consumer Safety Technologies (CST), headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa. The contract includes manufacturing of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and system build for electronic controls used in the CTS Intoxalock eLERT product. The Intoxalock brand breath alcohol ignition interlock device (BAIID or IID) has been used for 20 years to keep intoxicated drivers off the road and to help modify the behavior of drivers who have been convicted of an alcohol related offense.

Dubois Strong creates available sites and buildings database

Dubois Strong has launched a new Sites and Buildings Database on its website, www.duboisstrong.com. The new tool will allow website visitors to search for available commercial and industrial space within Dubois County. 

The new web-based system is designed for companies and business consultants interested in doing business in Dubois County.  The searchable and interactive database allows instantaneous reports to be generated on various sites and buildings based on user-specified criteria. Links from individual sites and buildings provide detailed information, maps, aerial and building photos.  Users can also search for existing businesses based on their NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) code, business size, or location factors.

Lt. Governor returns to Dubois Co. for Huntingburg Chamber annual meeting

Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann will be the speaker at Huntingburg Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Luncheon on April 19.  The Huntingburg Chamber will also be celebrating its 30th Anniversary as well.  The event is open to the public.

Ellspermann was raised in Ferdinand, one of six children of Tom and Betty Boeglin. A 1978 graduate of Forest Park High School, she earned a degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University in 1982.
