Boscoe France Band to perform at Folk Fest announcement | Arts & Culture
The lineup of musicians set to hit the main stage at the fourth annual Ferdinand Folk Festival will be announced on Saturday, March 16,at a performance by the Boscoe France Band at Ferdinand’s American Legion (425 Main Street, Ferdinand).
“We are incredibly fortunate to have a musician of Boscoe’s caliber to help us kick off our 2013 Folk Fest activities,” said Marc Steczyk, Ferdinand’s Town Manager. “2013 looks to be a great year for the Ferdinand Folk Festival and I can’t think of a better way to start it than with the incomparable Boscoe France Band. This will truly be a night to remember.”
A native of Madisonville, Kentucky, France gained national attention late last year when he took home the top honor in the Guitar Center’s “Battle of the Blues” competition in California. The win earned him international attention via an article published in Guitar World, a studio session with Grammy-winning producer Pete Anderson, and endorsements with top music manufacturers including Gibson guitars, Eganter amplification, Ernie Ball, Roland and Shure microphones, as well as a $25,000 cash prize.
France successfully marries incredible slide guitar skills with arrangements heavy in blues to create a mesmerizing, if unconventional, performance.
Show time will be at 8 p.m. (EST) with tickets for the event, also a fundraiser for the Fest, available for $10. Tickets can be reserved by calling 367-2282 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
