Jasper HS officials hoping new gym will be ready for graduation

JASPER, IN (WFIE)- With high school graduation just around the corner, Jasper High School is hoping their new gym will be completed in time for commencement.

Superintendent Dr. Tracy Lorey says the gym is almost ready, and should be done by May 17th. That would give the school a week to prepare for commencement.

"Barring any unforeseen issues that could potentially arise, it is our hope that we will hold our commencement in our own facility," Dr. Lorey said.

The Town of Ferdinand’s Park Board has officially opened its new handicap-ADA compliant/accessible restroom and shelter house facility in the Town’s 18th Street Park.  To save as much money as possible on the project, the majority of the project’s construction was performed “in-house” by the Town employees.  Project oversight was handled by Ferdinand’s Property Manager and Street Superintendent Tom Lueken.

“This is a great addition to our park inventory and a facility that will be of tremendous value to the community,” said Scott Tretter, Ferdinand Park Board president.  “Perhaps we carry our most pride in knowing that it is 100% ADA compliant—from the parking area, to the shelters, to the restrooms.  Tom and his employees are to be commended for their work and oversight in managing this project.”
